HP LaserJet 600 M601N MICR Laser Printer

We’ve just released the HP M601N MICR laser printer (CE989A). The M601N replaces the P4014N. The printers are virtually identical with the exception that the M601N uses the HP CE390A MICR toner Cartridge. This is a great workgroup printer at 45ppm and a duty cycle of 175,000 pages per year.

Maximum Pages Per Minute:  45
Toner Cost Per Page:  1.55 cents (Using new HP Cartridge)

HP LaserJet M603dn vs. Dell 5330dn face off

Monday, January 23rd, 2012 | HP Toner | No Comments

Thinking of buying an enterprise / workgroup printer? We recently received a printer comparison comparing the HP LaserJet 600 M603dn to the Dell 5330dn. We are big fans of HP printers. Why? They are the most reliable printers made.

I’ve posted HP’s comparison below. The one thing I don’t get is HP is comparing a $1,649 HP printer to a $1,099 Dell printer. Note the Dell printer is essentially a Lexmark T650 printer.  I’d add two more bullets to the list 1)  the HP printer costs 50% more than the Dell printer, 2) MICR toner isn’t readily available for the Dell 5230n, while we stock MICR Toner cartridges for the HP M603dn.

HP LaserJet Enterprise 600 M603dn List Price $1,649

Tis the season – HP & Lexmark Toner Price Increase 2-17%

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011 | HP Toner | 1 Comment

If you have an older HP LaserJet printer, you may want to stock up on supplies before the year is out. HP has announced a price increase effective January 1st, 2012 for all HP LaserJet toner cartridges. Cartridges for older machines or “legacy cartridges” will go up 12-17%, while cartridges from newer machines will only go up 2%. Our prices for new HP toner cartridges will go up January 1st, however our prices for new HP MICR toner cartridges will not go up until January 15th, 2012. We are stocking up on legacy cartridges to be converted into Premium or New MICR toner cartridges and will pass along lower costs as long as we can.

If you want to avoid the price increase, try our Advantage brand toner cartridges. You can expect the same print quality of Advantage brand toner cartridges as a new HP, they are the green lower cost alternative, and they’re backed by a money back guarantee. You can’t go wrong with Advantage toner cartridges!

While we can’t get our hands on a official list of legacy cartridges, we’ve been told by industry sources that the legacy list included the following cartridges:

  • Q5949A, Q5949X – LaserJet 1320, 1160, 3390
  • 92298A – LaserJet 4, 4+, 5
  • C9303A – LaserJet 5p, 6p
  • C3906A – LaserJet 5l, 6l
  • C3909A – LaserJet 8000, 5si
  • C4196A – LaserJet 2100, 2200
  • C4127A, C4127X – LaserJet 4000, 4050
  • C4182X – LaserJet 8100, 8150
  • C7115A, C7115X – LaserJet 1200, 1000, 1005, 1220, 3320n mfp
  • C8061A, C8061X – LaserJet 4100, 4150
  • Q2613A, Q2613X – LaserJet 1300
  • C9720A – Color LaserJet 4600, 4650
  • C9730A – Color LaserJet 5500, 5550

In addition to HP, Lexmark is also increasing prics by 3-7% January 1st.  While our new Lexmark cartridges will increase in price, our we don’t anticipate that our Lexmark new MICR toner cartridges will go up in price.

HP Releases New Firmware to Allow Wireless Printing from iPhone

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011 | HP Toner, MICR Toner and Check Printing | No Comments

HP has just released new firmware to bring mobile printing technology to LaserJet printers. Previously only HP inkjets were capable of utilizing the ePrint product. Printers compatible with the new update include LaserJet Pro CP1025nw, M1217nfw MFP, 1102w, P1560, 1600, and P175nw. All of these devices once updated will be compatible with AirPrint which will allow users to print directly from an Apple iPhone or iPad.

The new firmware update will also allow users to use HP’s new Print Control app which will notify the user if the toner used is original HP or remanufactured / non-OEM. In addition Print Control will allow you to print, scan or copy from your iPhone, scan documents directly to FaceBook or Google Documents and more.

Advantage offers both the LaserJet P1606dn MICR Laser Printer and the P1102W MICR Laser Printer for printing checks. I’d like to see an iPhone app to print checks wirelessly from your iPhone. Say you need to write a check in a hurry, just type in the payee and amount into your iphone, and print. What could be better?

Tsunami Creates Shortage of HP CE285A and CE278A Toner Cartridges

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011 | HP Toner | 1 Comment

The tsunami / earthquake in Japan has created shortages on HP CE285A and CE278A toner cartridges. The CE278A is used in the HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn, the HP CE285A is used in the HP LaserJet P1102W laser printer. HP toner cartridges are made in a variety of places. Most recent cartridges are made (assembled) in Mexico, including the CB435A and CB436A. Older cartridges such as the C4092A used in the LaserJet 1100 are still made in America.

It’s unknown how long the shortage will last. But these cartridges were already in short supply before the tsunami, so my guess is this shortage may last several months. Currently we are down to 44 CE285A and 72 CE278A MICR toner cartridges. These cartridges are reserved for our MICR toner customers. Luckily we just released both MICR and standard versions of the CE285A and CE278A in a remanufactured product.

This is yet another reason to buy our products which are made right here in Georgia. By buying an Advantage remanufactured product you are supporting workers right here in America.

Here are some links to replacement products that are in short supply.
